TERMS OF SALE
BIDDING
Bid by phone, fax or mail. Bidding may commence upon receipt of catalogue or once you have registered. Bids on new lots will be accepted until 8:00 PM EST on the last day of the auction. To assure your bid is received we suggest bidding early. Congested phone lines at the end of the auction may prevent you from placing new bids. In the case of continued active bidding by more than one bidder on lots at the close of the auction, bidding will continue by phone until the bidding is resolved. If you are actively bidding, it is imperative that we are able to contact you. Failure to reach you by 10:00 PM EST on the last night of the auction will cause forfeiture on lots you are bidding on unless prior arrangements have been made. A & B Auctions will bid for you on one or more lots up to a maximum amount you specify for each lot if you are unavailable at the conclusion of the auction. A & B Auctions is pleased to provide you with the current high bid on lots if you call during hours of business.
Bid increments on competitive bidding are done in
accordance with the following schedule:

A & B Auctions offers a free CALL BACK service for clients who request it. CALL BACK service is a notification by telephone that you have been out bid by another party. At the time of the Call-Back you may raise the bid or drop out of the bidding. Inform us of your request either by phone, fax or by checking off the appropriate box on the mail-in written bid form. Please be certain to leave a phone number where you can be reached or it will be necessary to void the CALL BACK service. If identical bids are left by two or more parties, the first bid received by A & B Auctions will take
preference. A & B Auctions will attempt to execute all bids in the best interest of the bidders. However, we will not be responsible for any errors, omissions or failures to execute a bid.
EXHIBITION
Viewing is available 2 weeks prior to the conclusion of the auction, by appointment only. No one is allowed on the premises the final 2 days of the auction.
ESTIMATES & RESERVES
The estimate for each lot is an approximate amount for which the lot may sell. The final selling price may differ from the stated estimate. The reserve is the minimum price the seller is willing to accept and below which a lot will not be sold. Most lots do not have a reserve.
GUARANTEE
The catalogue descriptions are guaranteed to be accurate to the best of our knowledge regarding authenticity, conditions and measurements. Pieces are guaranteed to be free of chips, cracks and flakes unless noted. Normal wear and manufacturing defects should be assumed. Normal age crazing should be assumed, excessive crazing will be noted. All jugs and pitchers are measured for width, from spout to handle.
BUYER'S PREMIUM
A buyer's premium of 15% will be applied to all items sold, to be paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
PAYMENT
Payment in full is due within 10 days of receipt of invoice. Late payments will automatically void our guarantee. Items will be shipped after clearance of check. Please allow five business days for check clearance.
SHIPPING
All shipping will be done by UPS unless otherwise noted.
Shipping & insurance costs will be billed on buyer's invoice of items purchased. A & B Auctions does not charge for packing. Items must be inspected immediately upon receipt for guarantee to be in force.
SALES TAX
All Massachusetts residents are required to pay a 5% sales tax unless the appropriate forms are submitted with a Massachusetts sales tax exemption number.
SALE RESULTS
Post-Sale Results are sent automatically to catalogue subscribers shortly after each sale.
CONSIGNMENTS
We will be pleased to discuss consignments for future auctions. We are always interested in collections of fine antiques and collectibles. Strict confidentiality is 100% guaranteed.
